Daily Prompt: Goals

When you started your blog, did you set any goals? Have you achieved them? Have they changed at all?

Yes, I had goals. No, I haven’t achieved them. Yet. They haven’t changed, and I still have them.

It’s actually just one single goal: become a better writer. Maybe it is true that I have become better at writing, but I’m not even a real writer yet. I haven’t even finished a story, let alone a book, or even published one.

I always say that the journey is the goal, and that may be true for life, but there are some things that need to be finished before the Great Goal is fulfilled. Sure, I have a lot to do, I have a job where I work 50-60 hours per week. I aims to keep that job. My roommate and I have 3 cats, who eat and litter a goddamn lot. My room is still merely a place to sleep, not a place to live, and definitely not a comfortable place for writing. The kitchen has improved much since I built a counter, but there is hardly any other furniture there. And all of those things currently have priority over writing, which is also why my posting has been so sporadic recently.

But I will be back. And that is mostly because of the mostest awesomest internet community that exists, the wordpress.com friends I have the privilege of being a part of.

Yeah, that’s you, readers. Feel honored 🙂

  1. Good luck with your goals – I believe it is normal that you have less productive periods as a blogger. I wouldn’t be able to come up with something “creative” every day, even if I would have the time.
I agree – wordpress.com is the greatest of all communities. It is more about discussion and less about showing-off … my car, my vacation, my family, what I had for lunch… and all those cool one line comments… (this is just hypothetical and of course not at all related to some existing social network ;-))
I attribute this (the greatness of WP) to the fact that (nearly) anybody here is a real contributor. On other networks most people are commenters only (I dont’s consider clicking on ‘Share’ a ‘contribution’.)

    1. well, my lunch would be worth its own blog, also the nonexistence of my car and my vacations… but you are absolutely right 🙂 and no, I have no idea what other social network you could be referring to 😉

  2. I am happy to know you won’t be quitting any time soon!! I actually think blogging is an honest form of writing. It can be anything at any time; it is about you, and everything else there is too. Any ‘real’ words are worthy words.

    1. you are absolutely right, and thanks for the encouragement. It may take a while before I write another post, because one of my work buddies is sick and I am filling in for him, additionally to my regular duty

      1. OK, well I’ll look forward to reading your next post. I hope your work buddy has a speedy recovery, and those extra duties don’t overload you too much.
